Speech Buddies Videos
In the video “Schooling: Pro” shows Dixie giving a speech about the pros of home schooling. The types of appeals used were the attention getter and clearly stating the main points. She also uses the three elements of claims, evidence, and reasoning. She speaks at a steady pace and clearly for the audience to hear in order to connect with them. In the video “Schooling: Con” shows Robert doing the con side of home schooling. Robert uses evidence to justify his position on the topic and every speaker needs to strong supporting material in order to be helpful in their presentation.

In schooling: Pro I thought that Dixie was a little too quiet, however I think that she focused on the audience and she seemed very confident in what she was saying. I also noticed that she used an attention getter and three elements of claims, evidence, and reasoning. In the video Schooling: Con, I thought that he did a good job supporting his subject as well. I agree with you when you say that "every speaker needs strong supporting material in order to be helpful in their presentation." In order to make my speech effective, I am going to use an attention getter, state my three main points, and use the three elements of claims, evidence, and reasoning.
ReplyDeleteHello there Kai!
ReplyDeleteI think Dixie seemed really logical, and that you knew a lot about her topic. I just did not really believe what you was saying by the way she spoke for some reason. She did use the three elements which you explained are the claims, evidence, and reasoning. As for Robert I felt that I felt more connected in his speech for the Cons against homeschooling. His evidence worked well, and he answered questions that I were thinking in my head while he was speaking. For instance, when he started talking about parents being teacher. I thought in my mind, "A parent could actually be a teacher." Robert then explained how it would not work if a parent was an actually teacher.
Hi Kai,
ReplyDeleteIt seems as if Dixie would be more convincing although Robert also had good ideas to support his points. Since Dixie went with home schooling and really proved her points through the appeal of logos, it was really persuasive. Then again, Robert was also great because I seem to agree with Robert's ideas more and it was very strong when he presented his three points with supporting details.
Hello Kai! You mentioned claim, evidence and reasoning. How are you going to use these ideas in the coming speech? Can you give me an example of your plan please? :)
